Maybe I won't be there now
Like I always was in the past
Waiting patiently for a chance
To pass the time in your arms
It seems like I no longer need
The passions you used to give
The ones you offered like gifts
Expecting me to embrace it all
I used to sense all the warmth
You held inside your soft heart
To look into your eyes felt safe
Until the emotions faded away
It became a dark place to linger
Nothing gentle or soft found me
The man I wanted had changed
Into a stranger who turned cold

rain flow to the roots
rain drench my boots
rain douse the flame
rain forget this poet's name
